Healthy Skin Care Products

Choose Healthy Skin Care Products. We all know the importance of being careful about what we put in our bodies; but, we need to be equally aware of what we are putting on our bodies. The fact is: your body absorbs whatever you put on your skin.


And, unfortunately, many beauty and skin care products – from lotions to nail polish, shampoo, and make-up – contain toxic chemicals that can disrupt hormones, interfere with adrenal and thyroid function, and increase the likelihood of developing diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer's.

There are several companies that have committed to using healthy, non-toxic ingredients in their skin care products and make-up, so be diligent about researching the various brands to find one that you feel good about using. You will likely pay a little more, but it is definitely worth it!

As demand (and awareness) increases, paraben and sulphite free products are becoming more common, but there are also other dangerous chemicals to watch for. Read the ingredient list carefully, and beware of anything that contains:

parabens (ethyl,methyl, butyl, propyl)
lead
mercury
triclosan
formaldehyde
1,4-dioxane
polyethylene
polyethylene glycol
polyoxyethylene
phthalates
alcohol
glycerin
Cocamidopropyl betaine
ESTA
butylene glycol or butylene acetate
oxybenzone
talc
coal tar

You may also want to go through your cupboards and check out the products that you are currently using. If you have been battling some health issues, the problem may be connected to what you are absorbing through your skin.
